Chayei Sarah
Genesis 23:1 – 25:18
Sarah dies at the age of 127, and Abraham purchases the Cave of Machpelah in Hebron as a burial site — the first purchase of land in the Land of Israel. Abraham then sends his servant Eliezer to find a wife for Isaac from among his kinsmen in Aram-Naharaim. Through a providential encounter at the well, Rebekah is chosen and returns to marry Isaac. The parasha concludes with Abraham's remarriage to Keturah, his death, and the genealogy of Ishmael.
