Haggai חַגַּי

Haggai (Chaggai) prophesied in the second year of Darius, when the returned exiles had let the house of Hashem lie waste for eighteen years while they dwelt in their own ceiled houses. In two chapters and four dated oracles, delivered over a span of four months, the prophet shakes the remnant awake: 'Consider your ways' — you have sown much and brought in little. Zerubbabel and Joshua the high priest are stirred, the work resumes, and the promises mount with the rising walls: the latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former; from this day of the founding, blessing; and Zerubbabel, of the seed of David, is made as a signet on the hand of Hashem. Haggai, with Zechariah and Malachi, stands among the last of the prophets, a member of the Great Assembly.
