Terms of Use & Dedications
Last updated July 1, 2026.
Torah: Word by Word is published by The Forum Press, a subsidiary of Fulks Inc (“we,” “us”). By using this site or making a dedication, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy notice. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
1. The text
This is a free, living study edition, assembled from freely-licensed sources and corrected over time with readers' help. It is provided as a study aid only — not a substitute for a rabbi, a teacher, or a kosher printed sefer, and it should not be relied upon for halachic decisions. We work hard on accuracy but do not guarantee that every word is free of error.
2. Intellectual property
The Hebrew and the classic commentaries are drawn from public-domain and openly-licensed sources, credited on the About page. The compiled edition, the word-by-word gloss, the gematria notes, and our own English translations are © The Forum Press. You may read, quote, and share the text for personal study and teaching; you may not scrape, bulk-copy, or republish our original material as your own or for commercial use without written permission.
3. Dedications
- What they are. You may dedicate a word, verse, chapter, parashah, or book — or become a Founding Patron — in memory or in honor of someone. Once approved, your dedication text appears on the corresponding part of the site.
- Review & display. Every dedication is reviewed before it appears. We may decline, edit, or later remove any dedication at our discretion. Approved dedications are shown at our discretion and are intended to remain posted, but we do not guarantee permanence.
- Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive your card details. Prices are shown on the Dedicate page in U.S. dollars. By dedicating, you confirm you are at least 18 and authorized to use the payment method.
- Not tax-deductible. The Forum Press is a for-profit company. A dedication is a sponsorship — not a charitable, tax-deductible donation.
- Refunds. For a refund before your dedication is published, email us and we'll issue it. After publication, refunds are at our discretion; email us and we'll work with you in good faith.
- Founding Patrons receive the benefits listed on the Dedicate page. The signed first-edition copy is provided if and when the printed edition is published; we can't promise a publication date.
4. What you submit
When you submit dedication text, a correction, or other content, you grant The Forum Press a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, display, reproduce, adapt, and publish it — on this site and in the printed edition — in connection with the work. You represent that you have the right to submit it and that it is not unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or offensive. We may edit, decline, or remove submissions, and you agree to indemnify us against claims arising from what you submit or from your misuse of the site.
5. Acceptable use
Please use the site lawfully. Don't try to disrupt or overload it, don't harvest it with automated tools without permission, and don't use it to infringe anyone's rights.
6. Third-party services
We rely on Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (hosting and cookie-less analytics), and Google Fonts (typography); your use of those features is also subject to their terms.
7. Disclaimer & limitation of liability
The site and its contents are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Forum Press, Fulks Inc, and their owners and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or reliance on its contents, and our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount, if any, you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
8. Disputes, changes & governing law
If a dispute arises, please contact us first — most issues are resolved quickly and informally by email. If it can't be, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Riverside County, California. Nothing here limits any non-waivable rights you may have under the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your own country or state.
We may update these Terms; the “last updated” date above will change, and continued use means you accept the update. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. These Terms and our Privacy notice are the entire agreement between us regarding the site.
